In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed ingredients, mixing until just combined. The resulting dough will be thick.
Place spoonfuls of dough, spaced 3 to 4 inches apart, onto a greased, preheated waffle iron. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cookies are a deep golden brown.
Transfer the cookies to a wire rack and allow them to cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
