Ingredients

  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce or more, depending on taste

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized pan over medium-low heat, stirring until fully blended.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and allow the sauce to cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until it reaches a thickened consistency.
  • Transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months.

Notes

Opt for organic ketchup or any ketchup free from high fructose corn syrup for a more natural flavor.
Ensure the use of smoked paprika, as it imparts the signature smoky taste essential to the sauce's profile. Smoked paprika is widely available at most grocery stores and is affordably priced.
