Ingredients

  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • In a large bowl or a resealable gallon-sized bag, combine the soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, black pepper, salt, and onion powder. Stir or shake to ensure the ingredients are well blended.
  • Add the flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it is thoroughly coated. Allow the steak to marinate for a minimum of 1 hour, though it may be left for up to 24 hours for deeper flavor penetration.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the marinated steak on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat reads 145°F for medium doneness. After grilling, let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing it against the grain. Serve immediately.

Notes

The marinade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, making it ideal for preparation in advance. If stored in the fridge, the olive oil may solidify. Allow the marinade to reach room temperature for 10-15 minutes before adding the steak.
For those mindful of sodium intake, consider using low-sodium soy sauce.
If an outdoor grill is not available, the steak can be cooked indoors using a grill pan or broiled in the oven with similar results.
