Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon white or brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  • Begin by gathering all the necessary ingredients.
  • In a spacious mixing bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. Add the sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg, then stir to combine evenly.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and melt the butter, ensuring it coats the surface of the pan.
  • Dip two slices of bread into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are fully covered. Place the dipped slices in the skillet and cook for approximately four minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices.
  • Serve the freshly made French toast while warm, topped with butter and syrup for a complete and delicious dish.

Notes

If preparing additional slices, stir the egg mixture between batches to prevent the spices from settling at the bottom of the bowl, ensuring an even coating.
