Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound fresh Mexican chorizo casings removed
  • 1/2 pound ground pork or mild breakfast sausage casings removed
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose baking mix such as Bisquick®
  • 3/4 cup finely crushed nacho cheese-flavored chips such as Doritos®
  • 1 8-ounce package of pre-shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickled jalapeños
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped cilantro
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup prepared salsa

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil or parchment paper, lightly coated with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a stand mixer equipped with a paddle attachment, combine the sausages, baking mix, Doritos, cheese blend, jalapeños, and cilantro. Beat the mixture until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  • With the help of a small ice cream scoop, form 1-inch balls from the mixture and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced 1 inch apart. Bake in the preheated oven until they are fully cooked, which should take approximately 20 minutes.
  • While the sausage balls are baking, mix the sour cream and salsa together in a separate bowl. Serve the warm sausage balls with this creamy dip for an enhanced flavor experience.

Notes

These sausage balls can be conveniently made ahead of time. Simply shape the mixture into balls and freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer the balls to a freezer-safe container. When ready to enjoy, bake them directly from the freezer for 30 to 35 minutes.
