Debbie's Amazing Apple Bread

This apple bread recipe, lovingly passed down from my friend Debbie, has been cherished over the years. It has remained on a tattered piece of paper, waiting to be shared with others. It is, without a doubt, my favorite recipe for bread!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups apples peeled and cut into ¼-inch cubes

Instructions

  • Start by gathering all necessary ingredients.
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until the mixture is well blended.
  • In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, ground cinnamon, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Once well mixed, add this dry mixture to the sugar mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed. Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. After this time, cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil and continue to bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, approximately an additional 15 minutes. Allow the bread to cool briefly in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For optimal flavor and texture, it is recommended to use firm apple varieties suitable for baking, such as Braeburn, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, or Honeycrisp.
