Ingredients

  • ½ whole salmon fillet deboned
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ½ - ¾ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • ½ lemon juiced and zested
  • 3 cloves garlic grated
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven
  • Begin by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F) or 160°C for a fan-assisted oven.
  • Prepare the Butter Mixture
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, grated garlic, Cajun seasoning, red chili flakes, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Stir until the ingredients are well incorporated into a smooth paste.
  • Prepare the Baking Tray
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and lightly spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the salmon fillet on the prepared tray.
  • Apply the Butter Mixture
  • Generously spread the seasoned butter mixture over the top of the salmon fillet, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  • Bake the Salmon
  • Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes. Every 5 minutes, baste the salmon with the remaining butter mixture to keep it moist and flavorful.
  • Add the Honey Glaze
  • In the final 5 minutes of baking, drizzle the honey over the salmon and, if desired, sprinkle a few more chili flakes to enhance the spice level.
  • Garnish and Serve
  • Once baked, remove the salmon from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve with your preferred side dishes such as roasted potatoes, rice, or a crisp green salad.

Notes

Frozen Salmon: If using frozen salmon, be sure to thaw it in the refrigerator overnight for best results.
Cutting the Salmon: For quicker cooking, you may opt to cut the salmon into smaller fillets, ensuring more even cooking.
Avoid Overcooking: Be cautious not to overcook the salmon, as it can become dry. The salmon is perfectly cooked when it flakes easily with a fork.
