Ingredients

  • Beef roasting joint – a high-quality cut for optimal tenderness and flavor
  • Neutral-flavored oil – helps create a rich golden-brown sear
  • Dried thyme – imparts a subtle earthy aroma
  • Onion granules – enhances depth with a mild savory sweetness
  • Mustard powder – adds a hint of warmth and tang
  • Salt and black pepper – essential for seasoning and balance

Instructions

  • Step 1
  • Remove the beef joint from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for approximately 20-30 minutes before cooking. This step promotes even cooking and helps retain moisture.
  • Step 2
  • Preheat the air fryer to 220°C. Coat the beef evenly with oil. In a small bowl, mix the dried thyme, onion granules, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this seasoning blend thoroughly over the surface of the meat. Place the beef in the air fryer basket and cook for 10 minutes to establish a flavorful crust.
  • Step 3
  • Reduce the temperature to 170°C and continue cooking for an additional 30-40 minutes, depending on the desired doneness—30 minutes for medium-rare and 40 minutes for medium-well. Once cooked, transfer the beef to a cutting board, loosely tent it with foil, and allow it to rest for up to 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
